SBI NRI Meet “ANIKA” — JW Marriott, Kolkata – 3 January 2026 · BDS & CO

Our partner Bharat D Sarawgee was honoured to be invited by State Bank of India – Local Head Office (LHO) to address their NRI Meet “ANIKA” at JW Marriott, Kolkata on 3rd January 2026.

The session covered NRI Taxation, NRI Property Matters, and Will & Inheritance for NRIs and OCIs drawing an enthusiastic and interactive audience of NRI customers from across geographies.

This marked Bharat’s fifth consecutive year of conducting sessions at SBI’s NRI Meets a continued association built entirely on trust and mutual commitment to NRI awareness.

A highlight of the evening: an NRI customer shared that he had attended specifically to hear Bharat’s session for the second time a moment that reflects the real and lasting value these engagements deliver.

Sincere gratitude to State Bank of India, its dedicated teams, and all NRI customers for their continued confidence and support.

Milestones & Partnerships

One Year of Impactful Collaboration — BDS & CO as Knowledge Partner with NRI Nivesh March 2025 · Bharat D Sarawgee | BDS & CO

What started as a focused initiative on NRI property taxation and FEMA compliance has, over the past one year, grown into a structured global outreach programme — and we couldn’t be more grateful for the journey. On 8th March 2025, we commenced our first international session with NRI Nivesh for the ICAI Jakarta Chapter, followed by an equally engaging session on 9th March 2025 with the JITO Indonesia Chapter. That was the beginning of something far larger than we had imagined. A Year in Numbers Over the course of this partnership, BDS & CO has had the privilege of conducting 40+ sessions across 8+ countries, directly benefiting more than 3,500 NRIs through interactive, practical discussions addressing real-life cross-border concerns. Countries covered include Indonesia (Jakarta), Singapore, Kenya (Nairobi), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Belgium (Antwerp), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Germany (Munich), and Qatar (Doha). What We Covered The programme evolved significantly over the year, expanding well beyond its initial scope to address the full spectrum of NRI regulatory and tax concerns:
  • Buying & selling property in India — practical challenges
  • Income Tax implications for NRIs
  • FEMA regulations & repatriation issues
  • Will drafting & inheritance planning
  • Succession structuring
  • Income Tax Bill 2025 — NRI perspective
  • Returning NRIs — regulatory and tax considerations
  • Compliance checklist for NRIs and OCIs
  • DTAA benefits for NRIs
Our Gratitude This journey would not have been possible without the right partners. We sincerely thank NRI Nivesh for the platform and professional coordination, and Nishant Kohli, Founder – NRI Nivesh, for his vision in building structured NRI outreach on a truly global scale. We also acknowledge Vikrant Kalia of Mudra Portfolio, our co-speaker across all events, whose contribution added tremendous depth to every session. The Road Ahead BDS & CO remains deeply grateful for the trust reposed in us and looks forward to expanding this knowledge initiative to many more countries, reaching a larger NRI community worldwide. The objective remains clear — to empower NRIs and OCIs with correct regulatory understanding, informed tax planning, and structured succession solutions in India. We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey.
